As teachers and parents work together to enhance student learning, we are always looking for the fastest and most engaging ways to help our students succeed. This page will be designated to online resources that you will be able to access from home. While most of them will be 'free' there may be websites that require you to create an account and/or pay for an upgraded version. Most can also be added to a phone or tablet as an app. While nothing replaces reading to your child and having them read aloud to you we all understand that life happens, time is limited, and being on the computer is just, well, fun:) Please feel free to use the resources that you feel may be most beneficial to your child. This is not homework nor is it required, just extra practice. All websites that I share will be student friendly and most of them I use in my classroom, but I do encourage you, as the guardian, to review all websites first. It is best practice to monitor student internet access. I will continue to update this list as I discover to website that I feel will enhance student learning.
Starfall is a mostly free website. Here you and your child create a free account. You are able to pay for a premium account if you so choose. This websites has stories and games that your child can read or have read to them. It also has a feature that allows children to create their own stories. This site is a common favorite among elementary students.

ABCYa is a free website where stories can be read to the student while they follow the highlighted text. This is a good site for student who struggle with word recognition and fluency. Having the highlighted text helps them to recognize the words while they hear them. Encourage your child to read along to increase fluency. Most stories will have an activity/game to increase comprehension. ABCYa also has math games. Your child can click on the 2nd grade bubble and a list of games that coincide with our 2nd grade standards will appear. If your child would like a challenge, you can click on other grade levels.

Raz-Kids is a website that I use most in my classroom. Our school has purchased a license for this site. All of my students have been entered and I have set up a set of books for them based on their DRA score. Which means the books are at their independent reading level. They can be read aloud by the child or the computer can read it to them. At the end of each story the student will click on the '?' icon and answer multiple choice questions and 1-2 constructed response questions that they will need to type. You will be able to monitor their progress and I too will use this data for independent reading.
